Who pays for Skriza
A social network's incentives follow its money. This page says where Skriza's comes from today, and what outside money would and would not be allowed to change — so you can judge the product by something firmer than a promise about values.
- Today: self-funded, one person, Langenfeld
- Skriza is built and paid for by one person in Langenfeld, Germany. There is no outside capital in it, no revenue of any kind yet, and no investor with a say in how the feed works. That is the whole picture, and it is worth knowing before you read anything else here: the servers, the domains and the time all come from the same place.
- Why a page about money at all
- Because the two most useful questions about a young platform are who is behind it and what happens if it stops — and both are questions about funding. The FAQ answers them in two lines. Institutions evaluating a platform ask them in full, and they are right to. Saying it plainly costs nothing if the answer is honest.
- What outside money would not be allowed to change
- If Skriza ever takes investment, these do not move, because they are the product rather than features of it: no surveillance advertising and no shadow profiles; the public feed ranked by principles that stay published, with a view still counting for nothing; no position in the feed for sale at any price; and core data on servers in Europe under European law. An investment that needs one of these to go is not one this project can take.
- What it would be allowed to change
- Capacity, mostly — the things one person cannot do quickly enough. Moving the remaining US-based CDN to a European provider before production. Building export and deletion into the interface instead of handling each request by hand. Moderation that does not depend on one person's waking hours. None of these change what Skriza is; they are what it would take to run it properly at a size one person cannot reach.
- If you invest
- Skriza is looking for investment, on the terms above, and you are welcome to get in touch. The useful first message says which part of this you think is wrong, not which metrics you want — the commitments are the thing being offered, and an investor who reads them as an opening position will be unhappy later. Write to the address below; there is no form and no deck waiting behind a gate.
